UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Prachanda will chair the new party. Prachanda, known for his anti-India stance, said the days of Maoists' defeat have come to an end. "This is not only the unity among the Maoists but also a new kind of national unity," the 61-year-old former prime minister said. "This marks the unity among the oppressed and exploited classes," he said.

Three people were killed and five others have gone missing as a landslide hit Lalighat Bazaar of Kotwada-6 in the district on early Friday. The deceased have been identified as Dhanamati Tamata of Syna-2, Hira Tiruwa of Syna-5 and Laxman Bhandari of Dhaulagoha, Police Inspector Tek Jora told Repblica Online. Five have gone missing in the landslide. Those missing in the landslide are Sanjite Tamata, 50, of Syuna-2, Shrista Bam, daughter of Takka Bam of Thirpu-5, Mani Subedi, 50 of Raku-2 and Aja Sarki's four-month-old son of Bajura Gotri-1.The landslide triggered by a heavy rain on Thursday night swept away over 20 houses of the Lalighat Bazaar. According to police only three among those buried in the landslide have been identified. A search rescue work for those missing in the landlide is underway. Eight people are injured in the monsoon-induced disaster, said DSP Kishan Singh Budal.

Methodology: This was a retrospective study conducted at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) over a period of one year from 15th Feb 2007 to 14th Feb 2008. All the term babies who had Apgar score of less than < 6 at 1 minute of birth were included. Detailed maternal risk factors during pregnancy and labor were analyzed. The newborn babies who required admission in neonatal unit were again analyzed for development of hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) and their outcome.Results: During the study period, out of 3594 term babies, 327 babies (9%) were asphyxiated. Of the total asphyxiated babies, 85% and 15% had moderate and severe asphyxia, respectively, at 1 minute of birth. Out of these asphyxiated babies, 51% and 7% had intrapartum and maternal risk factors, respectively. Intrapartum risk factors like meconium stained liquor, non-vertex presentation, and fetal heart rate abnormalities accounted for 4 fold risk of asphyxia. Of these babies, 26% required admission in nursery and 29% developed hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy. Among the admitted babies 6% expired, 2% left against medical advice and rest were discharge

At least nine passengers have been confirmed dead after a bus en route to Lamjung from Damauli met with an accident in Tamakhani village of Madhya Nepal Municipality, Thursday evening. According to Assistant Sub Inspector Jit Bahadur Thapa, who was involved in rescue operation, among the dead are five males and four females. The identity deceased could not be established till late evening. Twelve other passengers were seriously injured with nine of them in critical condition, according to the police. Those in critical condition were sent to a hospital in Tanahun via ambulance while the rest of the injured were sent on passenger buses. The fateful bus veered off the road and fell some 400 meters down hill, said Thapa, the assistant sub inspector.Although the road where the accident occurred has sharp turns and slopes, the cause of the accident has not been ascertained yet. The police said the rescue operation was hindered by a heavy rainfall. The driver of the bus is absconding.\

So you could get humans in orbit around Mars without raising the NASA budget beyond letting it increase with inflation, which is an increase but not an extraordinary one. Furthermore, in order to pull this off without any increase in the NASA budget, everybody has to stick to these agreements that NASA will no longer be the lead funder or supporter of the International Space Station. They’re going to retire the space station or let commercial entities take it over. But if you did that, really stuck to the agreements and you let the NASA budget increase with inflation you could have humans orbiting Mars in 2033. If the Mars 2020 rover is enabled to land in a place where there might be salty water - or ancient salty water - and were to discover evidence of life, perhaps we would accelerate that schedule. And as we say if you really have a plan to really put humans orbiting Mars in 2033 which would enable them to land two, three or four years later to land on Mars. Before this, Nepal had only access to Indian ports for trade with third countries. “We will not only use the harbour but also operate our own ship in Pacific and Indian oceans,” PM Oli said, “We will bring our goods in our own ship and with China’s train connectivity with Nepal, we can bring Nepal-bound cargos in three days.” He further mentioned that a Nepali flag will be hoisted in Nepal’s ship irrespective of whether other countries hoist their flags in their ship or not. “Why can’t we operate our own ship when we will have access to ocean water?” PM Oli asked.

More than 150 people are feared dead after they were buried under two landslides triggered by more than three days of heavy rain in central Sri Lanka , disaster officials said on Wednesday as rescuers raced to find survivors and recover the dead. Torrential rains have forced more than 196,000 people from their homes, the latest official data showed, with the recovery of another 19 bodies across the South Asian country bringing the official death toll so far to 35. More than 350 people were plucked to safety during rescue operations in landslide-affected areas across the country early on Wednesday, officials said. Rescue efforts have focused on the town of Aranayaka, 100km north-east of the capital, Colombo, where three villages were buried late on Tuesday in the central district of Kegalle. -

May 19 would be the day of unification," said Pampha Bhusal, CPNRM spokesperson.According to Bhusal, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPNRM General Secretary Thapa are assigned to finalize the organizational structures as well as positions of the leaders in the unified party.

After traveling through India, we took a flight from Delhi to Kathmandu. I was excited to explore a bit of Nepal, and we first began our explorations in the largest city of Kathmandu. Kathmandu is a beautiful city and there are quite a few things to do. But as a foodie traveler, I was of course most interested in sampling Nepali food and also Nepali street food, which I knew very little about before visiting Nepal.In Kathmandu, there's not a lot of street food when you compare the city to a place like Bangkok. There are some stalls, but many of the street food is housed in small tiny little restaurants where you pull back a curtain and sit on small tables and benches to enjoy home cooked noodles and momo dumplings. Around the Boudha stupa (also known as Boudhanath stupa) in Kathmandu, there are some good Nepali street food carts, many of them serving a mixture of both Tibetan and Nepali street food snacks.

It is a momentous time in the history of our nation Nepal in the process of promulgating a new constitution 2015. The constitution of Nepal finally delivered on the promises of federalism. Not to spoil the party though, however, it is clearly apparent that half of the population in southern and other parts of Nepal is still agitated despite of a new constitution which still does not address the voice of marginalized group in Nepal. To bring things into perspective, I am talking about this half of population of marginalized group represented by Madhesi, JanJatis and Muslims. There is no doubt that the constitution is promulgated by the constituent assembly with a clean majority, something that can not be denied when the three largest parties have found a common ground. This has also made easier for the ruling coalition to oversee the marginalized populations voices to incorporate in the constitution. To make it worst, the marginalized population agenda bearer political parties have diminished representation in the second constitution assembly after their failure to agree on a constitution in the first term of the constitution assembly.

Police on Monday arrested a foreigner participating in a sit-in organized by the Federal Alliance (FA), RSS reported.Briton Martin Pewar was arrested for participating in the protest, Chief District Officer (CDO) Ram Krishna Subedi said.Social media has been abuzz with photos of foreigners participating in the sit-ins organized by the FA prompting the authority to take action against such moves.Meanwhile, Home Ministry has decided to take action against the foreigners participating in the protest, RSS further reported. “It is against the immigration law to participate in the protest,” Home Ministry Spokesperson Yadav Koirala said.Koirala also said that the government might nullify the visa of the foreigners for participating in the protests, the RSS report added
